Since Indonesia has been positioned to be the 7th most risky country for natural disasters, it is a pity situation to meeting the lacks of educational materials and curricula responding to such urgent needs of raising awareness amongst Indonesian students regarding the risks of disasters. This project of action and research shall meet such needs through integrating disaster risk reduction educational materials into curriculum for students of junior secondary schools in Yogyakarta.
Various activities of research and action will be conducted, including bibliographical research, workshop with
relevant stakeholders, formulating the DRR materials for teacher, manual testing and publishing. This project, finally, is proposed to build strategic synergy amongst NGO and educational system and institutions for the benefits of building the capacity of the Indonesian youths in coping with the disaster risks their country is facing for now and future.
